Farewell to Tylee Cottage

Today we had a very relaxed farewell as we are out of Tylee Cottage next weekend - staying on in Wangavegas though. It was a beautiful late summer day and we had some brilliant small people here too - Deven, Sophia, Carter (who can suck his toes) and Mosston (who enjoyed hanging out with Samantha the leopard).

Eye of the Night

Tonight we went to a gig organised by the fabulous Clare (seen here under red light). The lighting is pretty ambient but you can just see a couple of the members of Dr Jeckyll from Whanganui. The other bands were Thought Creature from Wellington and Black Pudding from Palmy. It's a pretty cool venue where you get to have cups of tea in the kitchen if you want or chill out on the fire escape.

bbq and skull

Friends Kirsten and Fraser came over from Hawkes Bay for the weekend. Being summer and all, we had to have a bbq the first night they were here, with friend Peter Ireland as well. Later that same evening, the resident skull was the focus of much discussion, meanwhile I was looking at the work of German photographer Peter Hendricks.

Visit by Mariette Pathy Allen

I was very privileged recently to meet American photographer Mariette Pathy Allen. She was in New Zealand to continue her photography of transgendered people including a friend of mine here in Whanganui.Mariette was very friendly and interested in what was going on here. This photograph was taken in my studio.
