This journal is a documentation of art and cultural events I have experienced as a New Zealander, a traveller, and a current resident of Las Vegas, Nevada.
We've stayed at the Belt Road Holiday Camp before - the two-berth cabins are really cute with a verandah which looks out over the port - a million-dollar view for a budget price.
Last night was the Pivot magazine Death Ball at the Zone. The magazine was very impressive, as were the transgender ghosts and other creatures of the night.
This week Jo Langford is putting the finishing touches on her installation in the dome of the Sarjeant Gallery. Jo is the current Tylee Cottage artist-in-residence. Her show opens on Saturday 24 November along with Matt's show The Museum of Inherent Vice.
Simon and Katy visited us on their way to New Plymouth for the Beach Boys concert. We forgot to suggest they move their car off the road being Friday night and all. Luckily the only thing that happened was it got egged. Here is Simon sitting outside in the morning being interviewed live on Radio Active. As well as doing music reviews, he blogs regularly for Stuff.
And the UCOL graduates show, opened by Japanese drummers. These students are going out with a bang. (I know, terrible pun!) I've photographed some installation work by Trevor Rust (top), Kate Lepper (middle) and Clare McNamara, who also did a live performance.
Last night was the opening of the UCOL third year 'Third Rock' exhibition in the admin building, Rutland St. The show was officially opened by none other than the fabulous Courtenay Place who brought her twins along for the ride.
