This journal is a documentation of art and cultural events I have experienced as a New Zealander, a traveller, and a current resident of Las Vegas, Nevada.
This art space in Wellington is relatively new and shows some great underground art when you climb the stairs. Apparently there is a website coming soon, meanwhile you can find Mankychops on Myspace.
Some tools for the job, a detail from one of Matt's paintings (in progress), a skeleton dude we brought back from New Orleans, some art cards collected on our travels, and a flower sketch of mine.
My exhibition Roses are Blue has now opened at Thermostat Gallery, 155 the Square, Palmerston North until 6 November. Siren deLuxe is also showing her Mannequin series.
Here are a few images from the opening of Skullduggery at Rayner Brothers Gallery. My work is directly behind Mark, top right. To see all the work in the show, check out the Rayner Brothers website.
I love the Eye of the Night venue. Where else could you go to a gig and get free chocolate cake? Seen here are Sandra Bell and Azalia Snail with drummer.
I found the images of the prisoners particularly interesting - the building they are painting on was once used as a jail. The other building is down by the riverfront.
I think Gisborne Tourism should hire me to promote the town. Doesn't this look like a great place to live - or holiday? Where you can paddle an outrigger canoe along the river or do a little fishing at the rivermouth...
Friday night was the opening of Matt's and Rob's shows at the Pencil Gallery, Gisborne. The newly renovated, post-earthquake gallery was looking great, as were the shows. The grown-ups weren't sure if they could stand on Matt's paintings on the floor, but the kids used them as mini trampolines.
