Smokin'

The photo at left was taken recently in Palmerston North. The smoke is courtesy some pyrotechnics at the stock car races. The photo at right was taken last year in Las Vegas. The smoke there was courtesy a welder getting a bit loose on a building site.

the rain didn't stop us

Nadine came to visit and we spent some very enjoyable productive time in the Whanganui cemetary. Even a few rain showers didn't stop us. Some of the resulting photographs may feature in an upcoming project.

Greg Johns sculpture

This Greg Johns work is the second sculpture commissioned for Palmerston North by the Sculpture Trust. The planting of the native grasses around it really sets it off.

rivermouth, Haumoana

As I post these images, it is raining really heavily here. I can't help thinking of the situation in Victoria, Australia, where the dry landscape and strong winds have fanned the devastating bushfires which have killed so many people. I lived in Melbourne years ago and visited a friend who lived in that tree-covered landscape. It was beautiful there.
