supporting the support workers

I went along to the rally in Whanganui's Trafalgar Square aiming to persuade the Government to lift the freeze on low-paid workers' wages. There were lots of balloons, lots of pink and lots of supportive car horn tooting.

cameras and karaoke

There was some filming going on in the studio recently (see Matt's studio blog post 20 November - I think - his Spanish is better than mine!) Afterwards, a little wind-down karaoke.

two Auckland furry (well hairy anyway) friends

That's Artemis on the left - who actually has the sweetest nature, and Jack on the right, who is also a very sweet dog, and so well behaved. Doesn't he sit nicely?

coastal walk

I was staying a couple of nights in Owhiro Bay, Wellington, and took these photos on my walk home from the bus. I like how the new architecture in the area blends in really well with the environment.

Eye of Night gig

I saw a couple of bands recently at the awesome Eye of Night venue - above Boltmaster, and below Terror of the Deep.

student end-of-year shows

It's viewing time again with the end-of-year student shows at the Quay School of the Arts, Rutland St, Whanganui. The Year 3 fine arts show finishes 14 November and the Graduation show is on until 22 November. It's a great opportunity to obtain some very reasonably-priced work and give the students a boost at the same time.

outside the waikato museum

On the road trip south we stopped outside the Waikato Museum and found Peter Lange's brick caravan parked up as well as 'Art gets people talking'. The winner of the 2009 Waikato Art Award lived up to that slogan.

ladyhawke at the powerstation

Not the best photo, but that was pretty much my view through a lot of dry ice and revolving lights. I can tell you that Ladyhawke and band members were all wearing Haloween skeleton suits which you can just see if you look hard....

the party is over - for now

Our show at the Wallace Trust gallery is over - we met some great people along the way and shared something of Whanganui that hadn't been seen before. We really appreciate all our visitors to the show and to those who gave us heaps of support: D.A.N.C.E. Art Klub, James, Brian and Nigel, Kylee, Kneel, Shannon, Todd, Daniel, Karen, Kathleen, Thom and Theo, Lauren and Janet, Peter, Chris and Sam, the Collier family, and last but by no means least, Matt.
