Forever Staycation

UNLV's Donna Beam gallery is currently hosting week-long shows by MFA graduates. I made it along to the opening of Sharon Eakin's 'Forever Staycation' where I found people making the most of photo ops with the giant inflatable gorilla, drumming along to tracks while perched on a giant gorilla hand, sipping on margaritas and dodging flying frosting from the moving electronic cake objects.
The show was conceived in response to "the barrage of spectacles that surround us daily" and Eakin's gallery-scale spectacle complete with flashing lights, banging drums and sexy cocktail server, made for an engaging visitor experience.
