across Cook Strait
The weather was perfect for the start of our holiday. It unfortunately deteriorated severely the further south we went. The first image is taken on the Bluebridge ferry passing Barrett Reef at the entrance to Wellington Harbour where the Wahine foundered in a severe storm in 1968. However on this trip lots of people were out on deck with cameras. Across the Strait we cruise past small islands in the Marlborough Sounds, and then head through the road tunnels on the Kaikoura coast to Christchurch.
