karekare beach
What an awesome place to relax and get away from it all - Karekare beach. It is famous for being the setting for Jane Campion's film The Piano. I can't imagine how they managed to get all the equipment for filming in to such a remote spot. Just getting up the driveway to the little hideaway we were staying in was quite a mission. Once there, it was great to sit out on the deck with a cup of tea and a good magazine, surrounded by bush and birdsong.
