Currently showing at LACMA is a large exhibition In Wonderland featuring work by female surrealists active in the United States and Mexico. These artists were accessing dreams and the subconcious to create their works and this exhibition also looks at Surrealism's influence on Feminism. Icons such as Frida Kahlo and Louise Bourgeois are featured as well as many lesser-known artists.
The first piece encountered by visitors is a video above the entrance by Maya Deren. The other works shown here top row are by Rosa Rolanda and Bridget Tichenor. The works in the middle row l-r are by Francesca Woodman, Dorothea Tanning and Kay Sage. Bottom left is a work by Remedios Varo alongside images of all the artists included in the show.
For those who can't make it to the exhibition, there is also a very comprehensive catalog available.
