This journal is a documentation of art and cultural events I have experienced as a New Zealander, a traveller, and a current resident of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Springs Preserve
Springs Preserve is a great place to learn about water and energy conservation, recycling, local plants and wildlife as well as Nevada history. Here are some sculptural creations which caught my eye - the bottom three are creatures made from recycled and reclaimed objects by Nevada resident Dave Thompson.

OOooooOH that's so cool! I especially like that last sculpture and would love to see it! I have only gone to the Springs Reserve when they had Christmas lights/celebrations so I never got to see it for what it is. This makes me want to go back for sure! :)
There were quite a few more metal creatures lurking in the garden area, plus some beautiful cacti in flower - spring is a great time to visit. You can also experience a simulated flash flood which is pretty cool. The real spiders and snakes are safely behind glass - I can relate to the spider phobia :)

I'd love to visit too! Maybe that's the place to cure my phobia of spiders. Maybe not. The photo of that spider descending is just too much :)
